چکیده
Given a sequence of n arbitrary events in a probability space we as sume that the individual probabilities as well as some or all joint probabilities of up to m events are known where m n Using this information we give lower and upper bounds for the probability of the union The bounds are obtained as optimum values of linear programming problems or objective function values corre sponding to feasible solutions of the dual problems If all joint probabilities of the k tuples of events are known for k not exceeding m then the LP is the large scale Boolean probability bounding problem Another type of LP is the binomial moment problem where we assume the the knowledge of some of the binomial moments of the number of events which occur The two LP s can be obtained from each other by aggregation disaggregation procedures In this paper we de ne LP s which are obtained by partial aggregation disaggregation from these two LP s This way we can keep the size of the problem low but can produce very good bounds in many cases One of our new results is a generalization of Hunter s upper bound for the probability of the union of events Numerical examples are presented

Estimation of protein stability is important for many reasons: first providing an understanding of the basic thermodynamics of the process of folding, protein engineering, and protein stability plays important role in biotechnology especially in food and protein drug design. Today, proteins are used in many branches, including industrial processes, pharmaceutical industry, and medical fields. A...

Rain gauge stations that measure fine scale rainfall are mainly limited in number or in the length of the recorded data. Therefore, temporal disaggregation models have been considered because of their ability in generating fine scale data from coarse scale measurements of rainfall. In this study, microcanonical cascade model, which is based on the scaling properties of rainfall and consta...
متن کاملOn Passive Quadrupedal Bounding with Flexible Linear Torso
This paper studies the effect of flexible linear torso on the dynamics of passive quadruped bounding. A reduced-order passive and conservative model with linear flexible torso and springy legs is introduced. The model features extensive spine deformation during high-speed bounding, resembling those observed in a cheetah. Fixed points corresponding to cyclic bounding motions are found and calcul...
متن کاملSecurity Analysis of the Distance Bounding Protocol Proposed by Jannati and Falahati
In this paper, the security of a distance bounding protocol is analyzed which has been recently proposed by Jannati and Falahati (so-called JF). We prove that an adversary can recover key bits of JF protocol with probability of “1” while the complexity of attack is “2n” runs of protocol. In addition, we propose an improved protocol and prove that the improved protocol is resistant to mafia frau...
متن کاملLaws of Large Numbers for Random Linear
The computational solution of large scale linear programming problems contains various difficulties. One of the difficulties is to ensure numerical stability. There is another difficulty of a different nature, namely the original data, contains errors as well. In this paper, we show that the effect of the random errors in the original data has a diminishing tendency for the optimal value as the...
